Parks & Recreation

An article in the Amarillo Globe-News dated March 1, 1942 quoted, "One of the best parks in the Panhandle."

Memphis is home to a beautiful 40 acre City Park which includes an Amphitheatre, a 188,000-gallon Swimming Pool, and 8 R.V. Park hookups.

The City of Memphis' park facilities are available to groups and citizens for family gatherings, group parties, picnics, or other events on a first come first serve basis. The park is open daily from sunrise until 10:00 p.m.

The City Parks beautiful Amphitheater was part of a Park and Amphitheater project started in 1938 with help from C.C. Hodges, former Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, who headed the park committee that "pushed" the project. It has seating for around 2,000 people and is acoustically perfect.

Come out and enjoy what Memphis has to offer!
